Spencer Bubis created a short film that shows the complex history, identities, intercultural relationships and systems that affect the relationship between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people in Winnipeg. “While we all know it will be a long and incredibly difficult process, we believe that film is one of the best tools to cultivate empathy within people.”
Spencer received a community service grant for his project from #RisingYouth.
Trades of Tradition is helping to foster stronger, healthier communities by preserving traditional Indigenous knowledge. A network of young people came together to launch skill development initiatives in their own community. The program pairs youth with elders, rangers, drummers and seamstresses so they can learn traditional skills, build connections between youth and elders, and strengthen the cultural identities of participants.
